About Lonneke

My passion for sustainability research and consulting lies in sustainable procurement, sustainable innovation and life cycle analysis (measuring social impact). Sustainable procurement is a powerful tool for reducing CO2 emissions, achieving the circular economy and operating in a socially responsible way. Sustainable innovation produces high-quality products and improves the quality of life. Life cycle analysis serves to improve strategy and focus on what can really contribute to the development of a sustainable society.

As a project manager and sustainability consultant, I have 15 years of experience in the areas of products, processes and systems. My field of work involves both government and industry. I enjoy applying my knowledge of sustainability and the circular economy in practice, by visualising the environmental impact of the system of raw materials, production, use and waste streams and helping to minimise this impact. I am very committed to all the projects I undertake. For me, the user is always central.

At CE Delft, I am responsible for coordinating various research and advisory projects in the area of sustainable procurement and supply chain analysis. Together with colleagues, I work on a wide variety of projects, such as the development of the sustainable procurement criteria tool for the central government that allows buyers to find the sustainable procurement criteria for 45 different product groups.

I have also worked on sustainable procurement quick scans for various parties, including UMC Utrecht and the Ministry of Justice and Security, where we identified priority product groups for sustainable procurement. These projects sometimes include a calculation of the environmental costs. This allows organisations to base their decisions on a comparison of the financial data. For example, we provided environmental costs for all items in some Hutten restaurants. Finally, we support clients in tender processes by developing tools that allow bidders to be assessed on their sustainability score.

In these projects, I act both as project leader and content expert. My background in Industrial Design and Engineering at TU Delft and my previous work experience at Beco and EY Cleantech and Sustainability are very useful in this regard.

My areas of expertise are: Sustainable Procurement | Life cycle analysis (LCA) and carbon footprint | Circular economy
