Support for the National Waste Prevention Programme

At the request of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, over the course of 2013 CE Delft helped elaborate the National Waste Prevention Programme, providing much of the basic quantitative data as well as numerous suggestions on concrete policy options. The programme, now published by the Ministry, seeks to reduce waste volumes by a three-prong strategy:

  1. Better design: design products for compatibility with the circular economy.
  2. Reduce waste: further reduction of waste generated in industrial production and conversion.
  3. Greener consumption: more reuse, critical consumerism, more recycling.
The publication also contains numerous examples of ongoing initiatives that can serve as an inspiration.
