Battle of the vans. Evaluation of five proposals

The Netherlands Society for Nature and Environment (N&M) recently organized the Battle of the Vans, fought out by five teams, including scientists, policy-makers and industry representatives. The battle concerned the question: what is the most effective and promising government policy to improve the environmental footprint of light commercial vehicles?

CE Delft was asked by N&M to objectively evaluate the five teams’ proposals in terms of their impact on mobility, environmental effects, costs and practical feasibility, giving a rough analysis of the anticipated effects.

Several teams saw an important role for the various echelons of government: in acquisition of vehicles and services they should switch to zero-emission vans as soon as possible.
